What does a session look like?
I'm excited to meet you virtually! Virtual therapy is a great option for those who want to invest in themselves, but find the logistics of commuting out of their way. In your first session, we will explore your previous relationship with therapy or discuss this being your first time reaching out! We can review any questions you may have about therapy and my professional experience. It's important to ask questions so we can determine if I am a good fit for you. If you are up for it, perhaps we can make some art together - Alternatively, sometimes making art in session can be challenging so I will give you a prompt or a thought to bring with you until our next session. There is no judgment and what you say stays in therapy! Having some basic art supplies at home may be helpful but we can get creative with anything. And of course, there is no pressure to make art, we can just chat as well!
What is Art Therapy?
Art therapy is a modality-based psychotherapeutic approach that is facilitated by a trained clinician with a master’s degree in Art Therapy. You do not need to be an artist to be in art therapy, just have an open mind. Art Therapists are not interpreting your artwork, which I have found to be a common misconception.
